The Color of 50!!!

What does the color of "50" look like to you?
Well, I'll be honest, as I am inching on that magical age
it's looking a LOT better than it did when I was a child.
It seems that hair color at that time was actually more like  "one color for all".
And that color was usually black
**Thank you Lord for the progression in the world of hair color**
As a hair dresser, I have seen first hand how a great haircut and
flattering hair color can absolutely TRANSFORM ones outlook.

Now take a look at Demi Moore.  Thanks to Getty Images Entertainment
for this picture of what is a sure fire inspiration for taking care of yourself!!

When we enter this stage of life our hormones take over and go bizerk.
But Demi shows us what is possible.
Let's don't talk about how she has hours to spend on her
physique and skin and hair etc. etc. etc.
For just a moment, let's pretend that our bodies' look just like hers.
Now,... know that in real life we can have her hair.
It is a faux pas that you can't have dark hair as we enter our 50's.
You totally can.  As long as it's flattering on you.
First tip is to keep your color soft.
Even Demi's color is not solid.  It has dimension and variations.
A more pleasing choice for most women in their 50's is a medium brunette.
Check out Kelly Preston on Ranker.com's list of
Sexiest Women Over 50

As we age we want to avoid super harsh colors around our face.
Here, Kelly has a version of Ecaille.
This is a trend that has staying power and
I seriously LOVE it for the softness
that is gives to any face.
Do you remember the tortoiseshell combs we used to use in the late 70's?
Well if you do then there is your inspiration for this color
that adds beautiful golden tones to brunettes.
It can add color to your face as well.
But what if your gray is just out of control and you want to make that pesky
regrowth disappear as much as possible?
Then the perfect choice for you is Highlights!

Michelle Pfeiffer, at age 57, was also on that list of Ranker.com's
Sexiest Women Over 50.
And she deserves it!
By putting light colors closer to the scalp that gray will just blend right in.
I often use a technique call Shadow Coloring.
You can see a version of that here as they have added a dark blonde color at the roots
broken up by soft, weaves of blonde.  It keeps it looking much more natural.

And a few more tips to think about:
I don't have to tell you how we begin to be robbed of moisture that
our bodies once were fine with producing.  So with this lack of moisture we need to
replace it as best we can.  A good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner is vital.
If your hair if fine then just apply conditioner to the ends of your hair.  This will help your hair without sacrificing fullness.

Don't forget the eyebrows!!!  They frame your eyes.  The door to your soul.
Keep that door looking inviting by tinting your eyebrows with
pencil, powder, or tint.
As with your hair color, keep it soft.  No black please.

And lastly, color adds fullness, texture, and SHINE****
Who doesn't want that??
Makes me want to go color my hair right now!!!
How about you?

Beauty and the Bible

Psalm 149:4 For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. "He will beautify the humble with salvation"~~ If God were my Rachel Zoe, my own personal stylist, He would first choose to clothe me in salvation. "..Clothe me in salvation". Before He can do this He has to get me ready for my style session. This takes a bit of planning and thought. God must set the stage, so to speak. A good stylist plans, prepares, gathers needed material, and gets a full vision for the overall and complete look. In this case, I was so unattractive or plainly said, ugly as sin or maybe better to say "ugly with sin". This sin is so ugly that He cannot even look on me. If we started here God wouldn't even be able to take my measurements. God cannot be with sin. He sees this as a problem that must be fixed. We've got to wash sin away. The sin must go before anything can be done. As you've seen on What Not To Wear

Beauty and the Bible The Collection pt. 3 "Fierce"

In my style session with God as Master Stylist, I'm coming across some incredible pieces. He's already dressed me in "Salvation" (Psalm 149:4) which I am loving! It's such a good fit I think I will let it double as my Spanx (s omething's got to pull in the flaws and help me be more pleasing to the eye. haha ). So my Salvation stays on. Then I hit the mini runway in "Active Wear". This was a fun look with lots of energy. It was a light, bright outfit that could take me everywhere ( Eph 5:8,9). It had great shoes too. Once I put on my Gospel boots, I was good to go ( Eph 6:15). Ok , I am so excited to see what's next. This outfit is definitely different than the previous two. Tyra Banks comes to mind. Whether you've seen her TV show or not, I'm sure you've seen this super model's trademark look. She has very proudly made the word "fierce" synonymous with her identity. And if you don't mind, I'll snag her word

Ya think??

I have the BEST Mama in the world.  Like for real - ya'll. No joke.  She's like the bomb-diggity.  And whether or not you  use that term doesn't matter because my Mama seriously is that . She has patience that I can only hope for. She has an ability to think things and NOT say them. She may forget to get the rolls out of the oven for dinner;  but I forget to BUY the rolls in the first place. She loves helping people anyway she can. She goes WAY out of her way to help people.  It's amazing. And she' not going to tell you about it either. Oh my friends, God made her good.  So I tell you that to tell you about a card she gave me for my birthday this last year. I was turning 43.  (* Eeegads *) But the age is not important.  She gave me this card like I'm sure so many of you have seen before. A card with all of these attributes that I'm supposed to have. Well, for some reason it struck me like a MACK truck. I'm not th
